Smriti.. and meditations to  the highest degrees

It’s interesting to note how the Smriti of the Gaudia Vaisnavas greatly expanded during and after the appearance of Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Mahāprabhu Himself taught by example and accepted the Smriti of Jayadeva Goswami and Bilvamangala Thakur as well as Candi das ..
The essential elements of Sruti and Smriti greatly increase the understanding of Krishna consciousness , nothing is seperate from Krishna and everything Krishna does from His activities on the Battlefield of Kurukshetra to his pastimes in Vraja can be meditated and thought about, in fact they are eternally manifest , throughout billions of universes both spiritual and material. Our activities are finished in a moment,  Krishna’s activities are not subjected to the atoms ,elements, compounds, or modes of psychological nature, which are all evaporated forever by time .
The intimately connected devotees are able to assist us in our spiritual journeys by bringing us the Smriti , the windows to the spiritual plane , not by reading alone , but by Krishna’s mercy through the chanting of his names , which are the means and the end .
By the mercy of those great Acaryas also , we may, by grace ,  get some trancendental insights of the life of Krishna and His devotees.
Srila Rupa Goswami describes the process beginning with hearing and chanting about the names.  forms , qualities, and pastimes of Krishna and His associates. Then, smaranam deeper and deeper meditation and remembrances,  and much further details are given by Srila Rupa Goswami of deeper aspects of what  you could say is ‘ pure Astanga ‘ saturated with unalloyed Bhakti . Srila Visvanatha Cakravati Thakur indicates a spiritually mentally conceived spiritual body interacting in the eternal spiritual planes spoken of by the six  Goswami’s of Vrndavana and by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu who came to teach by example. Krishna’s words in the Bhagavad Gita ” Think of Me become My devotee “Krishna’s form is absolute when we think or chant or remember Him he can  become fully present to us  by grace “

Srila Rupa Goswami has given a wonderful example,  a man is watching a drama , the man becomes so absorbed in the drama , that when the main character dies in the drama,  playing a death role , the man watching also dies .

Spiritual life means a shift of identity.

Offering obeisances to the Lord with folded hands, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu raised His face toward Jagannātha and prayed as follows.
: “ ‘Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto Lord Kṛṣṇa, who is the worshipable Deity for all brahminical men, who is the well-wisher of cows and brāhmaṇas, and who is always benefiting the whole world. I offer my repeated obeisances to the Personality of Godhead, known as Kṛṣṇa and Govinda.’
: “ ‘All glories unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is known as the son of Devakī! All glories to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is known as the light of the dynasty of Vṛṣṇi! All glories to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose bodily luster is like that of a new cloud, and whose body is as soft as a lotus flower! All glories to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who appeared on this planet to deliver the world from the burden of demons, and who can offer liberation to everyone!’
: “ ‘Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa is He who is known as jana-nivāsa, the ultimate resort of all living entities, and who is also known as Devakī-nandana or Yaśodā-nandana, the son of Devakī and Yaśodā. He is the guide of the Yadu dynasty, and with His mighty arms He kills everything inauspicious, as well as every man who is impious. By His presence He destroys all things inauspicious for all living entities, moving and inert. His blissful smiling face always increases the lusty desires of the gopīs of Vṛndāvana. May He be all-glorious and happy!’

“ ‘I am not a brāhmaṇa, I am not a kṣatriya, I am not a vaiśya or a śūdra. Nor am I a brahmacārī, a householder, a vānaprastha or a sannyāsī. What real guarantees are in place that when the traditional Conservative elements of ISKCON who represent Srila AC Bhavtivedanta Swami Prabhupada and his missionary outlooks , pass from this world that the society will not become overrun by modern Hinduism that’s merged with a global conglomerate world along with its political stances , or young neo libertine populists who feel the old guard were out of touch with the new world or and should have “mellowed out ” and liberalised …
Supposedly, the constitution should be a binding document…..The constitution Prabhupada called for should be simple and to the point in essential areas ..

The mechanistic Darwinians who are inflicted with scientific materialism agendas lodged with their hearts , its very difficult to remove , because of being deeply embedded since childhood schooling days and beyond . In reality they are clueless not only about the complexities of each individual part of a particular body , be it an  ants body or a human body , we have to   bear in mind that not one cell can be manufactured from scratch within the greatest laboratories in the world by the greatest of the evolutionary scientists. The informational exchanges taking place, which enable molecules to move towards life, assembling  multiple body  parts, and eventually completing fully   complete and perfected bodily forms, is astounding. So, astounding, in fact, that it’s becoming increasingly obvious to leaders of chemistry,  biology and physics , the deeper they delve into miniscule details  , that these biological systems are so fit for specific purposes and increasingly it  looks like everything is designed as such . The leaders in engineering marvel at each bodily part and its complete efficiencies .When it comes to the subtle energies , described as the three modes of nature in the Vedas , those modes are unlimitedly mixed , causing the various psychological functions of each person . Like an artists pallet, the mental and intellectual states are of many colours . The vedas say the psychologies of  goodness , passion and ignorance are the causes of various motivations causing an  accepting and rejecting mind and varieties of intellectual capabilities .  The Darwinians , in their confusing states , have no answers for any  psychological states or explanation for various states of minds or intellectual states ….Simply ” neurons ” firing, they vaguely say . But the computer like brain has a consciousness that is the  operator, its plugged in to the brain lke computer. The ethereal or subtle consciousness which covers the original pure consciousness is granted a  mental and intellectual  state , from the greater pool of those energies,  originating from Divinity Himself , these ethereal subtle energies are on loan . The fundermental principles of material nature are discussed in the third chapter of the  Srimad Bhagavatam and further elaborations in Vedic texts .

.The unseen universal order ..

Not one microbe is unimportant in any part of a universe. There is significance and purpose in everything,  Divinity is fully conscious simultaneously of every part of the universal creation. The universal form of Divinity is described in the second Canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam.  Everything is coordinated perfectly. Even what might appear disorder is order .
Every atom , element, and compound is assigned and granted and then taken away from the living being , only to be re granted in different combinations along with  different sets of circumstances .

Srimad Bhagavatam contains the Sruti , Smriti ,  Tantra, and Purana.
Srila Goswami has accepted this authority as bone fide epistemology and anything outside of those as not necessarily transparent truth , but rather at most , somewhat speculative that may or may not bring a person closer to understanding absolute truth . The truth is  spoken directly in the Bhagavad Gita by Lord Kṛṣṇa personally , and subsequently in the Srimad Bhagavatam about Him by His realised devotees  and the Caitanya Caritamrta , Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu,  who is Krishna Himself elaborated on further more confidential truths and greatly extended the access to realising them . The Caitanya Caratamrita is regarded as the postgraduate study of the other two , the  Gita and Bhagavatam.
Anything calculated independently about the reality of spiritual and material truth utilising the senses or the mental and intellectual capabilities will be tainted with material limited calculations , and it will forever fall within the conditioned modes of material nature , those of passion,  goodness, and ignorance , trancendental life is beyond , it is situated in Suddha Sattva,  pure transcendence .
Trancendental topics are described as pure Subdha brahman , pure sound vibration. Knowledge in suddha sattva or pure goodness that is untainted by lust , anger , greed , envy , and illusions or attachments pertaining to the body , mind , senses or intelligence. This trancendental sound originates from Divinity Himself , and His pure representatives having accepted such sound can also  vibrate pure unalloyed sounds . Both Sadhu sanga , association of pure devotees, and Sastra sanga , accessibility of pure scriptures , are available to the sincere seeker of truth , both of these two are essential and work co jointly.
Such vibrations or writings  are empowered by Divinity and are  of the same spiritual nature as the absolute truth .The characteristics of the representatives of pure sounds are significant , This vese indicates them .

titikṣavaḥ kāruṇikāḥ

suhṛdaḥ sarva-dehinām

ajāta-śatravaḥ śāntāḥ

sādhavaḥ sādhu-bhūṣaṇāḥ

TRANSLATION

The symptoms of a sādhu are that he is tolerant, merciful and friendly to all living entities. He has no enemies, he is peaceful, he abides by the scriptures, and all his characteristics are sublime.

Divinity can always be  attributed to the teachings of the recognitiond Sadhus and  Guru’s and is also within the recognitiond Sastras . Both of the Sruti and the Smriti that is contained within the Bramha Gaudia sampradaya  . Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur had begun to present these topics to the Western audience’s.  His son Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Goswami Maharaja, the spiritual master  of Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami, took matters much further  within India , and also sent representatives to London . Srila A.C.Bhavtivedanta  Swami has taken all these matters  incalculably further ,  in terms of their being made available to Western audiences all over the world . He has  made all our acaryas teachings accessible and understandable to a worldwide audience in very unique and empowered ways . The international society for Krishna consciousness has brought the Vedas to the whole world, and  increasingly so . Other Gaudia Vaisnava organisations have also developed to teach in the Western world since ISKCON was formed,  and in India many Gaudia Vaisnava acaryas have always existed since Mahaprabhu’s appearance.

ISKCON is sometimes accused of mission drift ..
If the peripherals within the Gaudia Vaisnava greater Vedic connections becomes ISKCON’S cor that would go against the teachings of Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu , following His conversation with Ramananda Roy . At the same time is the conclusions of Mahāprabhus conversation are enacted primarily, and the peripherals discarded that would equally go against Mahāprabhu’s conversations.
The spiritually infused and mature ecclesiastical scholars within ISKCON have to strike the right balances allowing the natural flow from the peripherals to the cor , avoiding the dangers of the peripherals to become the predominant cor of the organisation . Overly identifying with Western modern Hinduism , or the neo libertine populist of the many shallow yoga organisations, each of those are very firmly situated within the peripherals with little inklings of the Gaudia Vaisnava cor is mission drift ..

The principles of Vedic societies are founded on the common sense logic that specific key occupations are to be carried out carefully and precisely and by persons who have the inherant natures that are equated for purposes . This is particularly  important, especially when occupational duties affect greater society, such as political leaders , social leaders , religious leaders, or business leaders.  We could say , for instance, in the past, many rouge leaders have taken possession of posts that they were not psychologically profiled for , the results are always disastrous , although those in ignorance may not understand what the consequences are or even what a disaster looks like or how it may be unfolding . The independent Vedic Brahminical intelligentsia themselves were profiled in Vedic cultures , there were always checks and balances in place instigated by Divinity Himself. We should know that Visnu has established the Vedas. The Vedas is the breathing of the Visnu , and He  has seen to it throughout the history of the Universe that the extensive Vedic widom passes   through and is understood by the purest and truthful persons,  their qualities are given in the Vedas .The highest quality persons , pure in consciousness , can fully access and understand the many applications of the all encompasing governance and compliance systems designed for social and spiritual mobility that go hand in hand in Vedic culture. Specific persons with specific qualifications and  realisations and skill sets in specific areas and that are inherant within them since birth due to previous lives are suited for tasks ,  and they can be  perfected by further education as well as association .  Administrative posts , business enterprise , crafts and practical skills, and finally, persons with theological or theosophy  liking as well philosophical leanings are some examples.
The percentages, according to the Vedas , of people fitting particular roles remain very steady throughout all societies historically,  and indeed, this  is objectively seen .
In order for societal cohesion to take place  it’s very important , and Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita ,  that a  particular type of person with particular qualities that are suited for a specific roles in society take their place . Persons should not take up someone else’s duties ,  duties that they don’t have the inherant qualities for ,  as that will always lead to an imbalance and great harm locally and nationally and internationally.

For instance, a businessman is a profit driven man , and he will not be able to consider the multifarious needs of the population nor the creatures that live within the countryside.

However, the man with greater vision , an administrator , will understand those needs , and still further, another man , the philosophical and theological persons, will understand the much much  greater aspects of humanities needs . Even the needs of a single ant are to be  considered. In the human case , along with philosophical developments are  the environment needs living peaceful lives . The bigger picture and the greater questions of life are understood by great thinkers who link themselves with honesty to God but not in a sentimental way .

Without having the right persons influences in the key positions , society becomes unbalanced and unsteady and unproductive , exploitation , danger , killing, and wars increase.  Greater ignorance of the key values develops, and intolerance increases . Essential knowledge as well as all-around education becomes stifled .  The all important intelligentsia who have everyone’s interest at heart are silenced or pushed out  , either by , political operators,  fanatical religionists , or ultra liberalists who are  business  conglomorates who favour scientific materialism and atheistic Darwinian hypothesis , its good for business.   Unfortunately, currently, they own and control much of the mainstream and social media . They also spend money to fix  legislation their way with the help of political allies , and their foolhardy messages are broadcast wholesale. The results have been a widespread teaching of subjective scientific speculations as fact based science to children. Scientific materialism is the dog of the day . Children should be taught critical thinking, particularly in the all-important sciences .

The Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam give  details of the Vedic societies make-up and different people’s qualities for  various occupational activities. Not specifically by birthright but inherant qualities within.  Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada has translated them into  English.

Napoleon , Nityananda Prabhu and Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Goswami and Srila Prabhupada.

One may wonder what possible connection can there be between Napoleon , Lord Nityananda, and Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Goswami , and the mission of Srila AC Bhavtivedanta Swami Prabhupada .Srila B.R .Sridhar Swami tells the story.

When Napoleon came to lead the military , he uniquely and  unexpectedly used new and surprising tactics , generally , military commanders would first attack the weakest points of the opposing army . However, when Napoleon took charge, he immediately attacked the strongest elements of the enemy,  this caught the enemy by complete  surprise,  and thus, they retreated from the battle in shock being unfamiliar with such boldness and straightforward tactics.

Similarly ,Srila B.R. Swami says that Nityananda prabhu attacks the strongest elements of Maya , those who are the most degraded receive immediate relief , one can say , mercy above justice . In doing so, those that are afflicted by Kali yuga and who are feeling the strongest influences are very quickly lifted, and such rescued persons become the teachers of the rest of humanity at large .

Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Goswami Maharaja demonstrated through his strong preaching that the whole of society is to be challenged. This was another side of Lord Nityananda and Lord Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu.   The purposes of both the Gaudia math and ISKCON missions  were to face Kali yuga head on in with strong vigorous argumentations on all fronts . Through science , sociology , religion , politics , the arts as Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Goswami Maharaja did , he issued major challenges to the status quo . Srila AC Bhavtivedanta Swami Prabhupada followed this boldness .

Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Goswami Maharaja lived in Calcutta during his preaching efforts of facing down the challenges of contemporary industrialised materialism as well as scientific materialism. People would say, “Why don’t you live in the Holy places ,” he responded by saying that he would live where the greatest preaching opportunities were and where he could make bold  challenges , as far as Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Goswami was concerned there was no shortage of anything accept Krishna consciousness. He once said if all the books in the British library were to disappear, there would be no loss as long as the Srimad Bhagavatam remained.

We know Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami carried that spirit deep within his heart .  Calling out Darwinian scientists as  cheaters. Who  presented hypothesis as fact based science and taught the world guessing as truth , and he also  called out  hypocritical political leaders as rascals , the modern-day economics as driving men to work like unthinking asses . Preaching means no compromise , but everything should be  explained in a balanced, rational way and logically.

So real Gaudia Vaisnava followers  don’t beat about the bush , but rather challenge those who are rascals and cheaters or who are political hypocrites and who mislead society .

At times, modern ISKCON loose this spirit and concern themselves with a softer safer approach,  yoga kirtan , Hindu temple building , agreements with modern economics, and its very popular to teach psychology in one form or another.

A Vedic world for today’s purposes.

Creating a Vedic world within the world of Kali

Creating a family with  spiritual values ..

His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada has made an attempt to use the educational systems of the Vedas and create a  world  free from the  ignorance of scientific materialism and all that brings . In his forming ISKCON, the Vedas has been brought to light to some extent . The Vedic ideal is that everyone can live in a harmonized atmosphere where differences are respected and facilities that everyone needs , including the creatures of the earth ,can be easily obtained . Unity in diversity as well as all discord being harmonized in the absolute is the Vedic gift . This vision is based on the Srimad Bhagavatam,  Bhagavad Gita, as well as the eighteen puranas that bring a natural and  systematic education through its various cultures , The psychological position of the ethereal subtle energies are taken into account within the eighteen Puranas.  Thus, men of goodness , passion, and ignorance are offered facilities and systematic progressive lives . This also naturally allows for all  the specific needs of a ” multicultural ” society , where differences can be lived out in harmony.

Some people may openly criticize ISKCON, or Gaudia Vaisnava societies , and immature thinkers probably dont understand the significance of their work and their long-term vision. When initially creating  structures naturally also problems can be created that’s to be expected especially in young institutions.   Every family has to face problems and learn to deal with them and learn from them. Living in the material world with spiritual ideals will naturally create puzzles.   Critical Vaisnava thinking but based on Gaudia Vaisnavism,  management, and governance, along with compliance, are  essential in any family unit.  Obviously, so in a huge ISKCON family . Within every decent family, frank discussions are sometimes needed to advance understandings  and bring practical   improvements .

We can naturally understand that in creating the great  worldwide family of ISKCON for instance, in such  unprecedented ways , and with such  unprecedented preaching  that is carried out all over the world , the ongoing management of  such a   ginormous family will remain with us . Good governance means to  always address issues in the best possible ways . Every  large organisation is constantly having to do so . Social problems are certainly not unique to ISKCON or any Gaudia Vaisnava group . However, bringing the  greatest benefits of the Vedas , the knowledge of Krishna consciousness  to the world  is a  matter of urgency .

Traditional ashrams or religious cultures , generally have  women and men within their own settings .The Nuns and Monks live separately all over the world . Family life was  absent, and interactions with society were limited.

In creating ISKCON Srila AC, Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada had the vision that the whole world should be  given the opportunity to practice Krishna consciousness together, every varna and every ashram should be included . In so doing , Prabhupada’s ISKCON society has successfully brought Krishna consciousness opportunities to one and all in very practical ways.

If Prabhupada had created traditional Ashram systems , many aspects of society would not have been included in the cultivation of Krishna consciousness . Currently , it’s witnessed that ISKCON is very  successful and is fast  permeating everywhere in the world and within different social groups. Its influences are growing in all of the varnas and ashrams.

Earlier days  in ISKCON were very blissful and revolutionary  but particularly difficult in many respects . Young inexperienced leaders had a lot of responsibilities , and many couldn’t manage well. Consequences of failure can be problematic, but  we can not assume the utopian dream that all is rosey as soon as someone walks into an ashram , persons have come to learn , and unlearn the bad habits of material life . Risks are there in any organisation, and every organisation is now managing them a lot better , as do all  religious institutions .

Certainly, Prabhupada, through his preaching method, has opened up the whole world , every single aspect of society can now access  a Krishna consciousness experience, and the success of  his mission is astounding.

Having looked at the conclusions of Vedic cultures centred around all important and scientifically verifiable dualism, i.e ., mind , matter, and consciousness as entirely separated energies , this objective science is clearly demonstrated in numerous ways .So , having witnessed the continual and on going mass exploitation of the majority of countries and their peoples, and having seen the hypocritical touting of freedom of the political classes , who are evidently under the charge of leading globalist conglomerates , and who both sing the narratives of ” free market economics” , we can only conclude the world is full of “educated ” fast talking eloquently spoken persons who are in reality fools , having no idea of where they came from or where they are personally heading or where they are taking the world. .
Richard Feynman was a very smart fellow with a mediocre IQ level .
The Vedas speak of the classes of persons called ‘ maya prakrita jnana ‘ persons whose intelligence is stolen by illusion..and pride accompanied by arrogance..

We note Srila AC Bhavtivedanta Swami Prabhupada never allowed any ISKCON funds to enter the gambling den of the stock , commodities, or currency markets, rather always in the bank where money belongs traditionally. It should be noted that banks should be localised and assist with local economics. Over the last hundred years the financial institutions have gotten out of hand, causing the rise and fall of currency and all important commodities. The Vedic Culures would never allow the crooked and cheating insider dealing environment to flourish and would return to traditional banking and utalising peoples wealth to assist local economies .Traders have been allowed free reign and are responsible for financial instabilities and unfare trading in international markets as well as assisting the global conglomerates in exploitative trade deals .
The Vedic Culures would turn the tables as much as Jesus did in the temple .

Traditional Vedic theological cultures , including Gaudiya Vaisnavism along with its established tattva , cannot be changed by young libertine populism , rather deliberations or applications of any of the tattvas in any circumstances are always carefully left to the self realised souls and pure scholars and would be only applied only to further the teachings of the previous acaryas and the param para .

tasmād guruṁ prapadyeta
jijñāsuḥ śreya uttamam.

Translation
Therefore any person who seriously desires real happiness must seek a bona fide spiritual master and take shelter of him by initiation. The qualification of the bona fide guru is that he has realized the conclusions of the scriptures by deliberation and is able to convince others of these conclusions..

Risking risking risking

In matters of love sometimes, even in this world, people risk everything . Although in this world, love is somewhat tainted with self-interest. Lust to be an enjoyer , or profit or benefit from activities to one degree or another , is always present in the heart of a non spiritual person. Who acts without any self-interest in this world?  Different degrees of love mixed with  lust and self interests are exhibited in this world. The love between the mother and the child is very pure, relatively, for instance.
Nevertheless, Srila BR Sridhar Swami gives the example of the purest of pure love , and he cleverly termed it ” All risk no gain.” In the material world, we hear of no risk, no gain .But all risk no gain ?
The residents of Vraja in Krishna lila those  in the topmost realms of spiritual love , which is ever expanding and feels ever new , and particularly the love of Srimati Radharani and all of her close associates demonstrated the highest of the highest principles of spiritual ecstatic love . They risked everything for love .  When Krishna “left them” and Vrndavana , their hometown ,  they thought everything of their love was lost. still, they never gave up on their unalloyed love and feelings for Krishna , even though He had appeared to reject or disappoint them .Their motivations were only ever to satisfy the emaculate senses of Krishna . In doing so, they had risked everything and were still hankering for Krishna, thinking of Him 24 hours and prepared in that love to gain nothing . In their extreme separation from the object of their love , their hearts were the abode of love ,  it seemed they had risked and risked but that everything in the relationship was finished . In their supreme separation,  their was still hope against hope .
Thus in our spiritual life Srila BR Sridhar Swami says , we are risking risking risking but we do not feel we have gained our goal , and can never feel we have done enough in our services to Divinity or that we have truely gotten Krishna.
Such is the path of pure spiritual love .
On the rooftops of Mathura having left Vrndavana,  Krishna Himself wept tears of love, and indeed, His separation was even more difficult to bear . Remembering the pure love of Srimati Radharani and Her friends  Krishna  thought He could never pay back such a sacrifice of  hearts . The spiritual truth of pure unmotivated love between God and His devotees is delineated in the 10th Canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam and greatly elaborated upon by Srila Rupa and Ragganatha das Goswami’s. Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu has come to reveal this mystery of all risk, no gain , and union in separation and separation in union 

Smriti and Sruti.

In the teachings of Gaudia Vaisnavas, the Smriti must follow the Sruti , otherwise, it is not Smriti.
The supposed Smriti of the smarta Brahminical classes or the Smriti of the impersonal philosophers is not to be classed as Smriti .The Smriti per se are paths that lead genuinely to the spiritual world. They are directly windows to the spiritual worlds .The Gaudia Vaisnava acaryas follow Srila Rupa and Ragganatha das Goswami’s Smriti as well as Srila Jiva Goswami and Srila Sanantana Goswami plus all the Gaudia Vaisnava acaryas in param para from them .
