In hearing the Srimad Bhagavatam, we should understand the lessons that are offered on many different levels . It is important to understand principles and lessons offered and apply them in the modern age under the directions of the param para acaryas. One should be practical about all things , for instance, in the last chapter of Canto six , how to conduct sacrifices are mentioned , and how the wife should regard the husband and how the husband should regard the wife . If we try to replicate everything enacted out from a different time period in terms of these types of  sacrifices or we by contrived mental adjustment overly place our partners on a level of worship that was conducted from a different time period, we may become confused.  In this day and age, everything is simplified when it comes to sacrifices to please the Lord .Worship Sri Sri Gour Nityananda, prabhu,  offer foodstuffs , take prasadam , hear Bhagavatam , chant Hare Krishna, assist the acaryas in their missionary activities. Do these things individually or as a family . If one person does the Sankirtana sacrifices, the whole family benefits trancendentally know it or not , and Krishna and the Goddess of fortune will be satisfied and the family blessed .

Application and understanding are important , the Srimad Bhagavatam is very practical and many many lessons and teachings should be regularly heard about . The sciences of Krishna consciousness work on many different levels. The Supreme Personality of Godhead is our well wisher and is the well wisher of all , even the demons. The pure representatives of Krishna are the same .
