The following of Sankaracarya want to say they have placed themselves in illusion, and they want to deny that it was the supreme Brahman Krishna , who is an overseer and permitter who actually created circumstances , via His energies, and its those illusions the following of Sankaracarya experience. Such impersonal thinkers deny the reality of the material energies, and deny it was Krishna who manifested it , and they wrongley conclude only featureless Brahman exists ,with no varigated qualites or varigated energies , such as the  spiritual, marginal or material. These types of faulty, unscientific spiritual musings and interpretations should be placed to one side . They are atheistic in nature and deny the existence of a cause of all causes . The information within the genome is not an illusion ,  nor the rising and setting of the sun , nor the seasons changes , nor the cyclic cycles of the universal creation, nor birth death old age or disease. The only illusion there is , is experienced by the unscientific impersonal  philosopher or the  atheistic thinker , who  is  concluding that nothing is superior in the form of an intelligent arrangement,  that everything is either an illusion that my mind is creating or everything in the universe are random events caused by chance motions and chance electromagnetic forces , chance radiation strengths , chance gravity strengths and different light particles and frequencies. Basically, anything but an intelligent organisation of matter and consciousness particles done for a  purpose and a function . Self evident truth surrounds us . When you see smoke in the distant hills , you know its fire , yet the atheistic or the following of Sankaracarya say no! smoke does not mean fire …curious conclusions by those who live in denial.
