Of course every culture has its particular ways and internal arrangements regarding ethical and moral affairs , and to a degree they can be accepted internally …but the laws of the land are originally based on theological cultures….so there will be broad agreements and they must be followed wherever one is living . However, differences will be internally played out , for instance attitudes to divorce , or sex within or outside marriage, abortions , gay sex , etc etc , are treated differently in each culture…and can be and will be looked at differently within cultures and religious followings .
But anyone can step out of their particular cultures if they like …ie.
If someone has an affair and then divorce , or if a girl has sex outside marriage , or is gay , the British laws and general society allow for it , there can be no private laws within cultures that can impose a penalty or punishment for doing so . Morality and the benefits of it psychologically and to protect families are spoken of in every theological culture , but however it can not be insisted upon with threats of violence..…as some fanatical followers might want to ….Both the Jewish and Islamic faith as well as smarta Brahminical classes , can at times , at least some of them , can assume themselves superior , and chosen people,and that the rest of the population are low life ..this is the exact opposite consciousness of a truely godly person..
When one thinks himself superior religiously , such persons can give themselves a licence to do anything…Gazza is the prime example , or Islamic persons can do so-called honour killings ..and in Hinduism a birth means no social or spiritual mobility is allowed.
Everyone should follow the rule of the government and the laws of the land in the country they live in , whether East or West… there can not be laws within laws . Multicultured societies are fine , but there are limits and restrictions on an insistence by some on how other individuals might choose to live within them , if its within the law, so be it .
