In the highest trancendental philosophies of Gaudia Vaisnavism the only way to get free from layers of darkness is to concentrate on the layers of light emanating from the trancendental pastimes of Radha Krishna’s realm in Goloka Vrndavana, the Gaudia Vaisnava acaryas describe them and write about them . The Back to Godhead magazine slogan and logo used by the the founder of ISKCON Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami is depicting this and says …. Godhead is light ,nescience is darkness, where there is Godhead there is no nescience.
Bg. 2.59.Bhagavad Gita as it is

विषया विनिवर्तन्ते निराहारस्य देहिनः ।
रसवर्जं रसोऽप्यस्य परं दृष्ट्वा निवर्तते ॥ ५९ ॥

viṣayā vinivartante
nirāhārasya dehinaḥ
rasa-varjaṁ raso ’py asya
paraṁ dṛṣṭvā nivartate

Translation
Though the embodied soul may be restricted from sense enjoyment, the taste for sense objects remains. But, ceasing such engagements by experiencing a higher taste, he is fixed in consciousness.

The treatment of Krishna consciousness entails seeing everything as Krishna’s energies and every living being as a part of Krishna.  When one is in illusion one sees things as separate from Krishna,  but the therapeutic processes of beginning to use everything properly under the directions of the pure devotees,  brings our consciousness back to truth and back to light . This can be a gradual process or it can be quickly achieved depending on circumstances.
