In Gaudiya Vaisnavism under the tutelage of the six Goswami’s of Vrndavana , who Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu taught , the Brahminical initiation is given to all classes of persons, if they have accepted training under the guidance of the appropriate Guru .This Brahminical initiation is given , not so one can further study scriptures, but only for Deity worship and other ceremonies carried out by priests.
Brahminical initiation is not an essential, Nama is enough, and the all encompasing Nama initiation along with studies of the Srimad Bhagavatam , Caitanya Caratamrita and the Smriti of the Goswami’s bring the same meditations that the Brahminical initiation offers .
Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Goswami Maharaja did not offer Brahminical initiation to ladies, because in India they did not generally carry out pujari or priestly duties , but they would be given Nama initiation and would intelligently study scriptures.
The Brahminical initiation and its meditations are meant to help Nama and the thread is mostly for official duties and also is shows the Vaisnava, even if coming from lower stock are as good as birth Brahminical classes and better if they become pure devotees.
Srila BR Sridhar Swami makes it clear its not essential.
AC Bhavtivedanta Swami Prabhupada gave Brahminical initiation in the West due to Western cultures and time place and circumstance.His lady disciples wanted to carry out Deity worship, and they are expert at it .
Ladies are as intelligent and devoted as men , with or without Brahminical initiation.
