  • What is sin ?

    Oct 1st, 2024

Taking something from this material world that is legitimately allotted to you by nature and  your karmic synchronicities and according to your social station in life , is not sinful but will be entangleing .

Thus, in Vedic culture, whatever you naturally  acquire  has been  alloted  to you by fate is perfectly fine . However the Vedasc says a certain portion should be offered back to Divinity or His agents as the best of sacrifice , because saints always  know how best use resources or one could give in charitable acts , and in that way  actions become less entangleing and are either elevating , if you give to saints , or materially beneficial if given in charity . Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita,  one who sees action in inaction and inaction in action is in knowledge , and everyone should unpack the mysterious nature of that statement.

Sin is defined , when someone encroaches  on others’ territories or  exploits other persons  for selfish reasons , that will cause harm in  many ways . Sin always goes  against morality , ethics, and in most cases of truely civilised society , the law . Sin always  causes all sorts of  pain to the others . One should know any physical or emotional pain one inflicts will be  alloted back to the perpetrator and with interest.

Also, according to ones station in life , and the specific duties associated with it , comes different calculations of degrees of sin , an educated man in places of social responsibility ,  or a leader  has to pay a heavy price if he or she performs the wrong actions .  The example of a state leader issuing orders for war comes to mind , if women and children are killed or the whole basis of the war is based against the natural moral and international laws , the leader and his country will pay the price as well as the people who gave him power .

Thus, it behoves everyone to understand how to carefully act in this life ,and ultimately how to raise one’s consciousness and awareness.

This great science of action reactions and the systematic universal responses are discussed fully in Bhagavad Gita.

  • Tumultuous ocean of spiritual emotions..

    Sep 30th, 2024

Vibhavas are the stimulants of emotions, anubhavas the physical responses that go with these emotional responses and vyabhichari bhavas are transitory emotions.

The trancendental personal realm of Divinity and the Supreme Goddess of fortune , who are described in the essence of the Vedic writing ,  the Sruti and Smriti , and are known as Radha Krishna , both of them live in a realm where emotions and feelings have no limits and are felt like the rising and falling of huge waves in a constantly churning tumultuous ocean of union and seperation,  both of which provide increasing bliss .

In trying to describe this trancendental ocean of spiritual emotions felt in one’s original spiritual body , and which , as the Bible says , man is made in the image of God , so spiritual existence is not an impersonal void , but rather a land of unlimited emotions and beauty,  we all love emotions , they are a reflection of spirituality , in trying to describe the indescribable,  Rupa Goswami has borrowed  from Bharat Muni and his Natya sastra .

Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu has specifically appeared in Kali yuga , the current age ,  to reveal and explain His teachings to His direct followers,  this great trancendental tumultuous ocean of spiritual emotions and the beauty therein.

It behoves every one of us to chase down these gems of wisdom that Mahāprabhu is revealing and distributing . The trancendental emotions are like diamonds,  the material emotions of family , friends , and bank balance are tiny ripples in a material temporary ocean that end up as a stagnant pond at death .

One  should cultivate , through the processes recommended by the Goswamis of Vrndavana ones sthya bhava ,
ones original attraction. Vibhavas are  described as the stimulus of trancendental emotion , by smaranam and intense meditation , through hearing and study of the works of The Goswamis and their following,  the trancendental world is brought to life , anubhava , are the physical or spiritual responses to such stimulus,  vyabhicari bhava , are the rising and falling of lesser spiritual emotions. Such as ..

    Sneha… lit heart
    Mana ..sulky anger
    Pranaya ..oneness
    Raga ..critical blame
    Anugaga …newer and newer

    Systematic progressive meditations

    From
    Smarana..slight seeking
Dharana ..holding trancendental forms in the heart
Dhyana  holdings specific  lilas in the heart .
    Dhruvasmrti specific  uninterrupted lila .

Such is the nature of the writings of the Vedas and their supplementary litratures.

  • You can’t “moralize” your way out the material worlds.

    Sep 27th, 2024

Ultimately, sets of morals and ethics could be said to be like yogic practices ,  like a voluntary control of a mind and senses , for the benefit of others and one’s own self  mental well-being . It can be seen as  commitments to a higher cause , other than animalistic uncontrolled exploitation  for one’s own gratification .

The uncontrolled mind and senses are actually a great danger to us , warnings are  discussed elaborately in the Bhagavad Gita by Lord Krishna who says our minds that cause actions can be our greatest friend or our worse enemy. Although , in Western cultures, we are repeatedly given the narrative  story after story to accept  libertarianism as a great device for real freedom. Western litratures and arts bring this idea to the forefront of everything.  “Take your mind and senses,  and do what you will …freedoms to do what you like , is a  great  happiness ,don’t let anyone or anything bring any form of  suppression ”

The Vedas give an entirely different picture of freedom. Freedom from the material mind and material senses and an aquiring of a spiritual mind and senses.  When you put iron in fire, it acts like fire .  Ultimately, to gain association with Divinity and regain our spiritual identity, one has to learn to love God and understand His qualities and become familiar with His form and activities along with all His associates. The platform of yogic practices, as well as  morals and ethics, are an essential step in freedom from the dictates of our conditioned nature .However,  one automatically experiences a higher taste in a spiritual dimension , so lower tastes are automatically discarded .Bhagavad Gita discusses that path .Divinities association along with His associates , is so trancendentally intoxicating , and with grace and humility one can  be fortunate to receive it ,  but not if we are proud of our morals,  ethics and learning without God , or if we  consider rather proudly,  Divinity owes His love and reciprocation to us because of our practices .  All pride has to go . If one feels himself low and unworthy , the highest consciousness of Divinity is attracted because in love, there is dependency.

So , cut glass or diamonds?

When one has a liking for diamonds, the cut glass is automatically discarded. By Chanting the names of Divinity in a humbled spirit, one can begin to enter the Pastimes and activities of the Lord .

  • The general principles of Varna Ashram

    Sep 27th, 2024

One of the main purposes of the Vedic Varna Ashram system was to, in simple terms, make sure the right persons with the right qualities were to do  the right occupation and that would benefit all of the society . Such is the natural and systematic social sciences that are already in place , there is no shortage of fitting persons only  ignorance of who should be doing what . The beauty and benefits of the Vedic social systems that naturally occur in mankind and  that Krishna has engineered purposely and its re-establishment is one of the prime purposes of ISKCON.

The importance of identifying the correct person is imperitive,  if an electrical engineer were to tinker around with the neurons in your brain , or a plumber were to look into solving your bladder problems,  that would be absurd.

Similarly, the Vedic systems find it absolutely unacceptable that the business class , today’s globalists , with the help of supposed administrative classes the political classes,  who are  claiming to represent the interests of humanity , but  silence the intelligentsia in the form of independent scholars who have  no particular political affiliations but who have the intelligence to call out fraudulent leaders and business leaders.

The business classes, unfortunately, run the  media platforms and TV channels , and they have selective  guests who think like they do  or paid to do so .Modern media avoid airing the views of an independent intelligensia. The journalists today are all paid servants of the Globalists’ opinions  , this is all too clear. Thus, where can a truth be found  one might ask oneself ?

Scholars in various fields have been  silenced  a kind of cancel culture. The  Vedic Brahminical class, who are also self realised theologians and scholarly philosophers , can very easily see through the plans of the persons who like to live and promote sophisticated animalism

Out of control business persons,  with  great dreams and assumptions of  creating global wealth and good fortune for the world are simply based on misrepresented and hyped up trickle down economics , which in reality turn out , the way the world looks right now , most in poverty and the planet polluted with important forests cut down and destroyed , thei former inhabitants,  the animals and birds with nowhere to go .

The Vedic cultures look entirely differently, with the emphasis on localised economics and national economics. This was based on the development of smaller economies, but working in synthesises,  thus creating a network for the benefit and interactions of everyone.  The administrative political class would see that everyone had fair dealing ,  compliance, and governance  which was strict in order  to avoid the risks of imbalance and encroachments,  but a balance of free market economics was also kept  in place .

Currently  this  out of balance world  is legislated with light touch compliance and overly complex rules , giving wriggle room for crooks and cheating .

Commodities and currency markets are a hive of insider information and curruption. Extremely rich people take advantage of getting even richer , and  then use their ill gotten gains unwisely,  creating further disruption in the world.

The Vedic systems are predicted to return into society and a  re-education, and a new awareness will develop. People will wise up, and the real intelligentsia will return to stabalise and put society straight.

  • The wondering consciousness,  the responsive universe, and a species to fit .

    Sep 24th, 2024

Although Christian cultures for some unscientific reasons reject not only reincarnation but also surprisingly and although completely lacking any objective scientific observations that are readily observable, they somehow come to the conclusion that animals , birds ,insects or fish or anything that moves , does not have a soul , or consciousness like ours , and humans that do , get one throw of the dice , heaven or hell forever,  a curious state of affairs.

Einstein himself said religion without science is blind and science without religion is lame.

The great man had a  wondrously succinct way of putting things .

The Vedas contains much science, and in particular the science of consciousness , and a consciousness that has not come about by a make up of  combinations of atoms ,elements compounds and molecules ,  but rather that  all matter comes into existence,  because of the need of consciousness.

So the Vedas has a completely different way of looking at matter , and Bohr,  Schrödinger , Feynman , Einstein, and Teller would understand why the Vedas says that,  indeed many physicists will also be sympathetic to the Vedas .

Within the universal arrangements and the universal machine that is  connecting  consciousness to matter , via ethereal substances , i.e., mind and intelligence,  the symptoms of  which are  thinking  ,feeling , and willing . Vedas says there are many blueprints , many  information exchanges taking place , and self selections to  arrange suitability of one’s consciousness for a particular type of body , stemming from its baggage of karmic synchronicity.

If we examine wildlife and the bodily machines along with their various psychological makeup , we could probably catch ourselves matching particular people we might know to particular bodies , and not just humans

This incomprehensible machine of the responsive universe ,  serving up the  perfection of judicially served outcomes, is what the Vedas say is going on perpetually, but at any time , knowledge of a permanent stable and every increasing blissful life could be aquired , the super subjective plane of Divinity and the Supreme Goddess of fortune.

  • Secret, more secret, most secret.

    Sep 22nd, 2024

Srila Visvanatha Cakravati Thakur , one of the great writers in the Vedic tradition,  who has  greatly elaborated the 10th Canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam  , has written in his Bhagavad Gita commentaries of something ….secret , more secret and most secret.

In Bhagavad Gita Krishna also  speaks of the secret of all secrets .

What is meant by this ?

One who lives in material consciousness is shrouded by his own subjective mind , one’s self made impressions,  and if we understand reincarnation,  that’s an awful lot of baggage or burdens one has to continually carry , that’s the Vedic opinion, you are what you are , and its complicated and its our doing .

So , Srila Visvanatha Cakravati Thakur is highlighting how one could understand three types of secrets , how we may know something that’s confidential , in fact , another way  of  expressing  secret,  is in  AC Bhaktivedanta Swami writings , confidential,  more confidential and most confidential.

The first secret that one may have the good fortune to realise is , one is not a body ,but the consciousness within the body , along with this secret , comes a clear understanding of just exactly how our machines of our bodies are conditioned , and how we can become free from these conditionings , and we can also see how others are conditioned , to one extent or another.

The second secret is to know and understand Divinity in His various unlimited forms and how one can communicate and approach Him accordingly.

The third secret and the most confidential, or  the most secret , is to enter personally,  into the relationships that Divinity is experiencing and feeling with His most confidential and intimate family ,friends and lovers , this takes place under the tutelage and  in the services of the Supreme Goddess of fortune Srimati Radharani.

  • The impossible becoming possible

    Sep 21st, 2024

In Srila Jiva Goswami Tattva Sandarbha, text no 43 , Jiva Goswami tells how the impossible becomes possible .

How the Tattva of Divinity being simultaneously one and different from His parts and parcels is played out .

The trancendental realm is ever fresh and ever new , love is an unpredictable and turbulent trancendental emotion , especially in the realms of Vraja, where   the most complete exhibition of “Ananda budhi vardanam ” is played out in the pure and spiritually surcharged  hearts of  Srimati Radharani and Her friends and Their assistants.

Such is the inconceivable nature of Divinity , that He has placed Himself within an atmosphere where He is experiencing ever new elements of artistry of the very highest order along with a love that He is astounded by , although being God Himself . Everything stems from Him , God, and His multifarious potency , so how is it Hrcan God be surprised by Himself

Thus, Srila Jiva Goswami indicates , that within Divinity the impossible becomes possible,  and not only the concepts of simultaneously and inconceivably one and difference is indicated by this , but also , for instance , the dancing and singing of the Manjaris , with newer and newer  melodies and newer and newer  artistic expression and poetry  that capture His consciousness, in ever beautiful ways.

  • The Divine , the Demoniac , Tatasta sakti ,and the modes of nature ..

    Sep 21st, 2024

The above is a complex mix and ultimately beyond the  comprehension of the human brain. Nevertheless, the Vedas give information as to how these different energies and types of consciousness are combined and working under the supervision of Divine Sakti , or energies.

It’s notable,  that throughout the history of universal affairs,  a struggle between the Divine and Demoniac is recorded.

When the founder of ISKCON met his spiritual master Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati Goswami Maharaja,  the British had control of India,  and AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada,  asked the question to Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati , who will take you seriously  , the British have stolen India,  it is a priority to deal with that first , Srila Bhaktisiddanta Sarasvati  said Mahaprabhu movement waits for nothing and is the real priority.

Jesus Christ preached in political times , with the Romans having usurped the middle east , Mahaprabhu preached in political times when the Mogal empire had snatched India .

Srila Ragganathha das Goswami in his Manah Siksa tells of the anartha of too much absorption in political matter , he calls it prostitution.

So, although Krishna Himself on the battlefield of Kuruksetra , demonstrated perfection in political manoeuvre and establishing justice systems,  and its no doubt an essential element of the Vedas,  more important for the individual is his own trancendental revival of God consciousness,  and from that positive position , the best influences can be administered to the world.

Everything is happening by the Supreme desire of Krishna,  this consciousness is Krishna consciousness,  Prabhupada said .

So some jivas really go for dominance , it appears , others are in a semi dominance position, and others have done with dominance and want out of the material matrix , and the modes of nature are assisting with the psychology that’s required for the task , and the karmic synchronicity of countless trillions of lives , goes on , not by chance , but by design.

  • Very special benedictions…

    Sep 20th, 2024

Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu has come to offer exceptional benedictions to even those who, really,  in Vedic terms , should not be able to receive them , because Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita,  only those who have done previous good ” Vedic works ” and have the karma Sukriti ,or jnana sukriti can advance in spiritual understanding.

But no ….Mahaprabhu has by-passed everything of the ” norms ” and is magnanimously  awarding Bhakti sukriti , and in   levels never seen before , which Mahaprabhu , also attempts to taste,  but actually,  Radharani brilliant ecstatic love , keeps on increasing,  its difficult to catch and understand , even for Krishna , such is the unpredictability of love .

So , along with Srimati Radharani’s love is Her confidential associates  love ,  the Manjaris , Mahaprabhu through the Goswamis of Vrndavana, are giving access to these secrets of all secrets . If you have no karma Sukriti or Jnana Sukriti,  fall at the feet of Krishna’s pure devotees who are freely distributing Bhakti Sukriti,  and taking no previous qualifications into account, its for  one and all , no matter the previous life and activities. Truely Mercy above justice.

  • Familiar,?  have been ? never been ?

    Sep 20th, 2024

Srila Visvanatha Cakravati Thakur instructs the devotees to increase their meditations.  Thus an element of astanga yoga is included in Bhakti yoga , as confirmed in Srila Visvanatha Cakravati Thakur’s Bhagavad Gita commentaries.

If you have forgotten your original purposes or your family connections from time immemorial, obviously, some rehabilitation and a revival of a normal state will be necessary.

Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur in his Jiva Dharma,  speaks of the conditions of water .

In its original state, water is a liquidity state , but due to excessive heat or excessive cold , its origins state undergoes an imposed state , ice, or steam .

The original state is described in Bhagavad Gita,  one is an eternal blissful associate of God , and being so , one naturally has an attraction for the all attractive one .

Jiva Goswami speaks of the impossible becoming possible,  in the sense of Divinity expanding Himself and becoming many , one and difference simultaneously   is the particles condition.

Also, the free will of the individual is let loose , naturally, it’s exhibited in different ways . Love is spontaneous and never static , nothing is static in relationships,  and certainly not in a spiritual realm . That Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu has come to distribute something that has never been distributed before,  the ecstatic and every increasing love of Srimati Radharani is mysterious.

And those receiving it , or attracted to it , are certainly extremely fortunate,  Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur gives the example of loggers in the forest , floating logs down a river to the saw mill , by chance a log is thrown up on the bank of the river .

So by association, one changes or increases an attraction towards Divinity , there are examples in the Bhagavatam,  of the wives of the Brahmanas association with Radharani and the Gopies , and Mahaprabhu through the teachings of the Goswamis,  in their writings have  delineated the whole mysterious process of Sadhana and Ragganuga practice,  note the word practice,  a practice,  a development of something,  in one sence a revival , in one sense,  something ever new , never before experienced.
