All governance and compliance systems were measured up against the Vedas, and their implications and impacts were considered by an intelligentsia who were all well versed in the sciences of mind , matter, and consciousness.

In the case of Lord Ramachandra, it was perceived, although wrongley, that Lord Ramachandra acted incorrectly in taking Sita back after She was kidnapped. The general people thought she had been polluted by Ravana .
To satisfy the “mob,” Lord Ramachandra banished his wife , and thus both Rama and Sita underwent great personal difficulties as an example for future leaders and the standards and duties they would have to adopt , sacrificing for the sake of the citizens. Modern equivalents can not be found , but rather quite the opposite.

You can not change the course of history, but if you want to introduce justice , peace, and goodwill and Divinity favours your endeavour, the endeavour and its results become part of history.
