It will never arise out of chemicals.
The source of a miniature Consciousness is a larger consciousness.
Like the sun and sun molecules.
There has never been a time that consciousness did not exist , nor in the future will it cease to be ..matter has certain properties.
Consciousness is a different sort of energy.
Thus, the ancients and their cultures were correctly based on dualism.
Scientific materialism is a recent construct ..and is completely subjective speculation , it curiously practically ignores consciousness , ignorance is bliss maybe , or enables a madman to live in illusion.
You are the same Consciousness particle, as you were as a child, but your body has changed .
When you sleep and dream , your body is acting , your consciouseness is  involved in an ethereal plane , a real life , so much so that if a man embraces a woman, he ejeculates .You completely forget your body lying in your bed.
On awakening, you remember and identify with it again ..at death your body is forgotten forever , but you wake up in a new one , only traces and some impressions of a previous consciousnesss conditioning is vaguely remembered .
Thus, your life is a daytime dream nighttime dream .
But you should ask why am I subjected to this ?
