“One hundred years after the Scopes Monkey Trial, academic freedom is still being impeded by the thought police of the day. That’s why the work of the CSC remains important and why your support is needed TODAY.

“It will be no surprise to regular readers of Evolution News & Science Today or listeners of ID the Future that there’s still much to talk about when it comes to the infamous “Scopes Monkey Trial.” That was a key theme throughout July, as the 100th anniversary of the trial was observed.
What was the Scopes Trial? That’s where a Dayton, Tennessee, public school teacher was put on trial for violating a state law that prohibited teaching human evolution. It is a 100-year-old story that continues to impact education and scientific endeavors today.
As Casey Luskin opined in a recent Salvo article, “the teaching of scientific ideas should never be banned, much less criminalized. One hundred years after Scopes, we have what the late Supreme Court Justice Scalia once called ‘Scopes-in-reverse,’ where scientists and scholars face reprisals if they challenge neo-Darwinian evolution.”
Challenging neo-Darwinian evolution—like the claim of 99% human-chimp DNA similarity—is exactly what our talented group of scientists, philosophers, scholars, and communicators is uniquely positioned to do. But we can’t do it alone; it requires the support of many.
Why should you invest today in the work of Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture (CSC)? Because we are truly the epicenter of the scientific challenge to neo-Darwinism.
Even though their voices continue to be suppressed, scientists in our ID 3.0 Research Initiative build a strong cumulative case against materialistic explanations for the origin of life and make a robust scientific case for intelligent design. This includes researchers in areas of orphan genes, protein origins, junk DNA, design detection, and a myriad of other topics.
Scholars, journalists, and animators distill our scientists’ research through articles at Evolution News and Science Today, podcasts at ID the Future, popular and technical books from Discovery Institute Press, as well as through documentaries and video shorts on YouTube. And, we continue to highlight the stories of those who are persecuted for challenging Darwin and pursuing ID research.
Skilled speakers reach students and laypeople through our Faith and Science Conferences and other individual speaking engagements. Through our Summer Seminars on Intelligent Design, students are both trained in the science and philosophy of ID, and mentored to succeed in their academic careers as they navigate hostile colleagues.
There is no other organization like us. No one else is challenging the scientific establishment like the CSC is.
But without the support of people from all walks of life and at all levels of financial resources, the Center for Science and Culture would not be the force that it is.”

When you support the work of Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture, you are making the full spectrum of our work a reality. Please consider a generous gift today!
Thank you,”
