“The Bhagavad-gītā is spoken by the Lord so that human society can be perfectly organized from all angles of vision — politically, socially, economically, philosophically and religiously. From any point of view, human society can be reformed by the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement; therefore one who spreads this philosophy of Kṛṣṇa consciousness for the benefit of all conditioned souls in the universe is perfect in pure devotional service.”

As is indicated here Krishna consciousness can be practically applied it is both an external and internal process, in Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu conversations with Ramananda Raya He makes it clear where Krishna consciousness begins and where it ends , ie .in Bhava and Prema .
Srila Rupa Goswami and Ragganatha das Goswami explain and give further indication as to the process starting from chanting , then smaranam ,Dharana , Dhyana ,Dhruvanusmriti ,Bhava Prema .
Means , slight seeking. Holding Radha Krishna forms , specific lila , uninterrupted recollection, pure contemplation .
So ultimately, one should seek or take instructions either by Diksa or Siksa or when one has had proper association , then by the Sastra sanga of our acaryas.
Thus, Krishna consciousness is not a personality cult , but it means to understand the process and seek those that know the full science and who are advanced in it , free from any tinges of Karma or jnana ..
